Convert Blu-ray movies to ProRes MOV for editing in Final Cut Pro
Note: If you are FCP X users, before you try to do the conversion, don't forget to make sure that you have installed the Apple ProRes Codec manually since the FCP X asks users to install it by themselves.
Step 1. Load Blu-ray movies
Install and run the Mac Blu-ray to FCP Converter; load the Blu-ray movie from your Blu-ray drive and then drag the Blu-ray file to the program; Or you can click "Add Blu-ray" icon to draw into Blu-ray movies you want to rip. Alternatively, you can mount an ISO and import it.
Step 2. Select output format
Clicking "Select Format" bar and choose "Final Cut Pro X" or "Final Cut Pro 7" as output format from the "Editor" category under "Format". Good News is that the windows product can even create Apple Prores codec on Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Visita.
Tip:
a. To have a smooth playback and editing after conversion, for FCP 6, you can only choose ProRes 422 and ProRes 422(HQ) as export format; while, for FCP 7 and FCP X, ProRes 422(LT)/ProRes 444/ProRes 422(Proxy) are all supported.

Step 3. Start the Blu-ray to Final Cut Pro Conversion

For FCP 7/6:
Launch Final Cut Pro 7/FCP 6, choose File >> Import >> Files..., and browse to where you save the converted clips to. Choose the videos that you'd like to add.
For FCP X:
Choose Import > Media, and select files or file folder to navigate to the output files. Click "Choose" to import Blu-ray to Final Cut Pro.
Now, you have successfully imported Blu-ray to Final Cut Pro. And you'll find the imported video files under "All Clips" item, and right click to follow "Open in Timeline" and you can edit them freely. Then you can edit your treasured Blu-ray videos within Final Cut Pro freely as you like.
